Bwin.com, the Austria-based provider of online gaming products in continental Europe, acquired the international television broadcasting rights, online rights and mobile rights in an exclusive deal with the DFL, the German football league (Bundesliga) for the seasons 2006/07 until 2008/09. Bwin itself has agreed a deal with the sportsman media group to act as its exclusive distribution partner for these international rights for the next three seasons. the sportsman owner Thomas Krohne has advised the betting group throughout the whole bidding process and negotiations and has previous experience of marketing the Bundesliga's international rights. Bwin/the sportsman are planning to use also new media to increase the league's exposure.

Thomas Krohne said in a statement: 'we presented an innovative concept to the league aimed at making it a global technology pioneer in the flexible utilisation of a wide variety of distribution channels and achieving comprehensive global media coverage which convinced the league. This is an exceptional deal for us, the sportsman is proud and happy being an important partner of the Bundesliga and Bwin for the next three years'.
