The PREMIERE League Cup is contested between the four best placed teams of the previous Bundesliga season, the 2. Bundesliga champions and the winner of the DFB Cup. If a club from the Bundesliga top four or the 2. Bundesliga champions win the DFB Cup, the team finishing fifth in the Bundesliga will be eligible to play in the PREMIERE League Cup.
