VfL Bochum 1848 is a traditional soccer club from the 1. Bundesliga in Germany and was successfully qualified for the current UEFA-Cup season 2004/05 achieving 5th place in last years Bundesliga ranking, ahead of Borussia Dortmund and Schalke 04, their regional opponents from the "Revier".

the sportsman media group succeeded in acquiring the worldwide (national and international) tv-rights from Bochum for all UEFA-Cup home games.

Unfortunately Bochum, lost in a dramatic and historic return match against Standard Liege in the 94th minute by receiving the 1 : 1 , after and 0 : 0 in Liege. This dramatic lost was, unfortunately the beginning of a crisis which ends in a fight today for retain a place in the 1. Bundesliga.

In a partnership with TWI the one and only match was finally sold to and televised live on ZDF at prime time.
